Spring Summer Look

The January blues are finally lifting and February is well under way. As the New year starts to lose that ‘newish’ feel I start to browse the make up aisles and begin taking inspiration from all of the new Spring/Summer collections that you will see around. Coming up to this time of year I love to change up those dark smokey eyes and full coverage base for a softer, more gentle approach; Think dewy, glowing skin and pastel pops of colour.

I am a huge lover of all things make up, whether that be high end or drugstore, and have tried to incorporate both into these SpringSummer inspirations I have found.

After reading this I hope you all pick up some great tips or get introduced to a product you may not have used before, always remember I love to see some of the Spring Summer looks you have been creating so make sure you tag In The City in your Instagram posts.

The Base

Lighter in texture and dewy in finish – what more could you want! Givenchy’s Memoire De Forme has absolutely transformed how my skin looks with make up on, infact I’m pretty sure that when Beyonce ‘woke up like this’ she must of been wearing this  product. With a chic and more elegant take on your everyday glow, this water like gel glides on to the skin giving you an instant brightness without any chunky glitter or excess shimmer. You can use it on top of your make up by pressing it onto the high points of the complexion or you can use it as a primer underneath your foundation, this is how I have used it and personally think you get the best finish this way.

Highlight

If you don’t wear highlight you can’t sit with us…..

When coming into Spring you really can’t beat a beautifully highlighted skin and I haven’t found one better than Bobbi Brown’s Pink Glow. This highlighter is honestly my ride or die and I wear it nearly everyday. Layered on top of Givenchy’s Memoire De Forme it picks up just the right amount of light to give a natural, lit from within glow.

The reason I love this product so much is that it can also be layered to achieve more of a ‘Hi I’ve arrived’ type of highlight and we all know I love me some of that! It comes in a bronze shade also which is perfect if you have a warmer skin tone. I sweep this all over the tops of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and above my brows but do feel free to apply this to very inch of your face and body – after all its a highlighter and we can never have too much!

The Eyes

After what seemed like an eternity of matte, smokey eyes and dark winged eyeliner, theres nothing better than stripping everything back and keeping everything bright and shimmery. I love cooler toned eye shadows coming up to this time of year andI’m drawn to anything with a pastel pink hue all the way to a deep lilac mauve tone. I own more eye palettes than any other (normal) person on this planet but when I was looking for something to tie this whole look together I really wanted to keep it simple. The Maybelline Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadows are exactly that! With a creamy, long-lasting texture (and an even better price tag) they are my absolute go to’s for an effortless, feminine eye look. I chose the colour ‘Pink Gold’ and it looks truly perfect swept over the moveable lid, finished with a smudged liner and some natural mink lashes.

The Lips

Okay so I’m not going to lie I owe my lips an apology, I have totally neglected them when they needed me most.

2016 can only be described as the ‘year of liquid lipsticks’ it also seemed to be the year of trying to combat that real drying effect that came along with them. Dry lips are so frustrating as it really effects the way lipsticks apply and how long they last. 2017 I am preparing to do something about this and I have finally got my act together and dedicated some time to finding the perfect combo for combating dry lips this Spring!

I am in love with the Dior Lip Glow already so I was so happy to see that they have launched a Lip Sugar Scrub from the same line. This is an on the go scrub stick with the bonus of an incredibly flattering colour, it has sugar particles in it that buff off any surface dead skin cells to leave an even, plump finish.

Now the lips are exfoliated its time to add that oh so needed moisture………Everyone meet Lanolips the lip balm that I kept seeing all over social media (and for good reason) so of course I had to check out the hype. This super dense lip balm is 100% natural and is the perfect hydration for extreme dry lips – it can also be used on cuticles or any problem dry patches on the skin, a multi-use product for the most flattering price tag…. I have already noticed a massive difference from using these 2 products together and they won’t be leaving my handbag anytime soon!

I hope you have picked up some new product ideas or have taken some inspiration from my Spring look that I have created. Remember to tag In The City in any looks you create and keep me posted on anything else you would like to see going forward…
